Choosing the right Jiffy Mailer product for your application: To Determine the Width of the Mailer: (W) Width of Product + (T) Thickness of Product + 1/2 "To Determine the Length of the Mailer: (L) Length of Product + (T) Thickness of Product + 2 1/2" Packaging Supplies Company offers stretch wrap in four basic types: Cast Film comes off the roll quietly and has high clarity so the load can be easily seen through the wrap. Cast films are available in: Rolls that require a dispenser Rolls that may be dispensed by hand Machine length rolls Colored rolls Opaque rolls Packaging Supplies Company stocks cast film ranging from 12"-18" wide and 60-120 gauge. Blown Film Blown film is very resistant to puncture, making it bagonaroll ideal for irregularly shaped loads. Blown bagonaroll film is also "cloudy" so high value items cannot be seen as easily through the wrap. Blown film is available in: Rolls that require a dispenser Rolls that may be dispensed by hand Machine length rolls Packaging Supplies Company bagonaroll stocks cast film ranging from 12"-18" wide and 70-90 gauge. Carton sealing tape is available in two varieties, pressure sensitive and water activated. Pressure sensitive tape is typically made of PVC or Polypropylene backing with acrylic, hot melt or natural rubber adhesive. Pressure sensitive tape is relatively inexpensive, provides a good bond for many carton sealing applications and is easily applied with an inexpensive tape gun. Water activated bagonaroll tape is constructed of kraft paper backing and sometimes includes fiberglass reinforcement. Water activated tape requires a stationary dispenser containing water to dispense the tape bagonaroll and activate the adhesive, but forms a superior bond when applied to corrugated cartons. PRESSURE SENSITIVE TAPE Hot Melt Hot melt tape is also known as synthetic rubber and is typically manufactured with a polypropylene backing. Hot melt tape works well from 45-120 degrees, provides a good bond for most carton sealing applications and is the lowest cost pressure sensitive tape available. Hot melt will yellow with time, but will do so more slowly than natural rubber tape. Packaging Supplies Company''s boxes are "200 lb burst test" certified. (We do carry some "275lb burst test" certified boxes too.) This means that the corrugated walls of the box would require 200 pounds per square inch of force to break through the wall of the box. The burst test has been a standard certification for years. More recently a new certification test has started to be used called the Edge Crush Test (ECT). bagonaroll Generally, 200lb test boxes are 32 ECT. ECT is the edgewise-compressive strength, parallel to the flutes of a short column of corrugated fibreboard. Test results are reported as the pounds per inch required causing compression failure. ECT relates directly to box compression strength which is important in today''s world of box stacking. For certain items, mailing supplies provide a complete protective package that is ready to ship.
